Baptisms for the week of 6-26-17

#1

Baptism of Martha and Rodrigo
One day a Sister took us to visit another family, my companion suddenly felt the need to contact Sister Martha, and she was carrying a water jug in the street. We offered to help and she told us that she was fine, but she accepted a visit for another day. They knew of God, Brother Rodrigo was a Catholic Priest, but seeing the wonders of the Gospel they decided to change their lives and accept a Baptismal date. Now they are preparing for their eternal Family and want their daughters to follow.

#2
Baptism of Marilu Nava
Sister Marilu lived in Tijuana for a long time, there, her daughter knew a Christian Church and invited her to attend a church, because she knew her mother was Catholic but didn’t practice her beliefs. Her parents are members of the Church and they had invited her to listen to the missionaries, all of the sudden she decided to go to Church, there we met her and started to teach her. We realized that many missionaries had taught her but the challenge was that she was not married, we invited her to pray and ask our Father in Heaven to help her get married, so that she could be baptized. We supported her and we prayed with her and for her a lot. And this is how her prayer was answered, now she knows the truth, and has taken the most important step of her life.

Combined Union, Lomas and Independencia Zone Conference 6-20-17

What a great day we had with our 3 zones serving here in Guadalajara as we met together for our combined zone conference. Here are our Union, Lomas and Independencia Zones!

I love the awesome picture of this group (below)
They are ready to learn and be taught by the
 spirit of the Lord.

President Clayton began:
*How can we increase our faith?
(Discussion)
*Faith is a principle of action and power
*Faith gives us confidence in the Lord
*Faith inspired diligence
*Faith must begin with desire

*What are some things we must change within ourselves
to increase and utilize our faith?

*Examples of Faith
-Savior's disciples
-Joseph Smith
-Enoch

Moses 7:13
And so great was the faith of Enoch that he led the people of God.
And their enemies came to battle against them; and he spake
the word of the Lord, and the earth trembled, and the
mountains fled, even according to his command; and the
rivers of water were turned out of their course; and the
roar of the lions was heard out of the wilderness;
and all nations feared greatly, so powerful was the
word of Enoch, and so great was the power of the
language which God had given him.

(discussion)

*Our call and setting apart gives us
authority to speak in the name of the Lord
and to perform miracles in His name.
How can we increasing our
faith and confidence to do this?

President Clayton highlighted the story in Judges 7
of Gideon and his army of 300; waging war against an
innumerable host of the armies of the Midianites.

*The record in Judges 7 tells us that the Midianite army lay along the valley ‘like grasshoppers for multitude, and that their camels also were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude’.

*While the army of God, led by Gideon and his host were just 32,000, they were set and ‘pitched beside the well of Harod’.  Gideon’s significantly less band had risen up early and were prepared for battle.
The Lord told Gideon, there are too many, ‘lest Israel vaunt themselves’ thinking that they, by their own hand had won the battle.

*The Lord tells Gideon to send ’those who are fearful or afraid back’ from the mount.
22,000 men left. There remained 10,000 men.

*‘The people are yet too many, the Lord says. Bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there.’

*The Lord instructs Gideon, to have the men go to the river and drink.

*The men that lappeth the water with their tongue, by scooping the water into their hand and up to their mouths lapping the water with their tongues as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by aside.  There were 300 men that drank water this way.

*The men that boweth down upon their knees, bending low to drink from the river were sent away, to their own places.

*The Lord said unto Gideon, by the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and I will deliver the Midianites into thine hand.

*So Gideon sent all the rest of Israel, every man unto his tent, and he retained those three hundred men only.

*Gideon divided the three hundred men into three companies. He put a trumpet in every man’s right hand, with empty pitchers, and a lamp of light within the pitchers in their left.

*Gideon instructed the men, that when he blew his trumpet, all that were with him were to blow their trumpets also, on every side of all the camp, and were to throw down their pitchers and cry… the sword of the Lord, and of Gideon!

*So Gideon, and his 300 hundred men, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch, and stood, surrounding the wall, every man in his place round about the camp.
*At Gideon’s signal, they unitedly blew their trumpets, and broke the pitchers that were in their hands.

*Startled and terrified, the Midianite host ran in terror and confusion, slaying and smiting their own fellows.
They slaughtered themselves that terrible night, and fled!

What can God do? God has said, if ye will have me be your God, then, ye shall be my people; and I will fight your battles for you. That is what Jesus Christ, Jehovah and God of the Old Testament did for Gideon and his valiant army of 300 faithful men that historic night.

*We must Give ourselves to God - completely (this is your mission - it will be what you make of it)
*We must Trust in God - completely (gaining spiritual confidence)
*We must Act as God would Act - completely (obedience, all day, every day)
*We must Forget ourselves and go to work - completely (laying aside our distractions)

What can God do with our focused and faith filled efforts?

My teaching
If we don't change directions- we will end up where we want to go!

*Getting from point A to point B
Where do we want to go?
-mapping a course
-staying on the road
-detours/distractions
-destinations

*Is it possible to chart our spiritual journey?
*Is it possible to chart a spiritual journey for
ourselves here in the mission?
-Some examples might be:
-Becoming more Christlike
-Developing leadership skills
-Strengthening our personal character
-Deepening ourselves spiritually
-Strengthening our testimony
-Seeking to serve others with the pure motives

*Is it possible to be on the road, on the path
with our feet.. but inwardly be
somewhere else?
*Is it possible to be here in the mission physically, but have
our heart and mind might be somewhere else...

*How do we get back on track?
*Focusing ourselves spiritually
*1Samuel 16:7
*What matters most to our Father in Heaven?
 *Proverbs 23:7
For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.
Look at the footnote under the word thinketh-
motivation.
What is our motivation for the things we think about?

D&C 4
If we give our heart and mind to the Lord-
He will give us the might and strength to do this work.

Assistants Elder Torres and Elder Contreras' teaching
*The Power of the Book of Mormon
*Companion Study

D&C 11:21
*Seek not to declare my word, but first seek to obtain my word,
and then shall your tongue be loosed; then, if you desire, you shall have my
Spirit and my word, yea, the power of God unto the convincing of men.

*We can have more unity and power as
we study together seeking to obtain the
word of God for ourselves and for our
 companionship -thus obtaining the power
 we desire.

*How did Joseph Smith prepare for the first vision,
and restore the church upon the earth once again?

*How is his preparation a pattern for us?

*We are capable to receive revelation from heaven.
*When was the last time the heavens were open to you?

President Monson's message this month in the Liahona
in the Book of Mormon

President Clayton's game!

We went outside ...

President divided everyone into 4 teams
Team #1

Team #2

Team #3

And... Team #4

President goal was to demonstrate how important is it
to work together!!
As companions, districts and zones, we must
assist and cooperate together in this mighty work!

Each team had 14 team members.
Divided in half, each side had to
change places in the line.
The team goal was to help their fellow
team members to the other side without
touching the pavement.  They had to stay up on the curb.

plans were made-
and they began!

Team #1 Won!

regrouping for another game..

Azucar  or Aguate
We have played this game before...

Our missionaries play this game with great intensity...
and that is how we must do our missionary work!!
Check out some of these determined faces!!

Ready!

One side is Azucar, the other is Aguate.
When President calls out one of those 2 names,
the side called, must run and tag a member of the
opposing side to bring over to join their side.
(is that clear as mud?)

Team #1 won!

The Sister Training Leaders teaching
Sister Nunez and Sister Sandoval

We want our investigators to trust us, but
really, they must learn to trust in God.

PMG teaches us that our task is to live worthily,
pray fervently and learn to recognize and
follow courageously, the spirit's guidance.

1 Corinthians 2:4 Paul taught
... my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom,
but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

* PMG teaches us that spiritual power is a sign that our authority is real.

Break out session with the sisters
*'The errand of angels is given to women,
and this is a gift, that as sisters we claim'.

*As angelic sister missionaries..
We must find our gift and
share it in our own personal way.

*Find every opportunity to share truths
and testify
of home, family, motherhood, and womanhood.

I love these sisters!
We had a great day together!!
