Follow Up Training

What a great day we had with our new missionaries 

and their trainers in our follow up training.

The assistants highlighted introducing

the Book of Mormon and then everyone

practiced again and again, changing

companions

Then,  the 7 Celestial Habits Challenge!

 Think fast and name one of the 7 celestial habits

that hasn't been said yet as the ball is tossed to you.

       1.  Always give the baptismal challenge

2. Teach lessons in order

(three ways to receive revelation)

3.  Through prayer

4.  Reading the Book of Mormon

5.  Attending church

6.  Ask for referrals

7.  Evaluate and set goals

Dividing up into teams

Playoffs... calling out a different way to ask for referrals
before tossing the ball to someone else.
Some possible answers might be:

Do your neighbors know that you are a member of the church?
Who do you know that would be blessed by living the gospel?
Who is the last person you talked to about the church?
Of the people you know here in the city, who do you think
should receive a visit from the missionaries, And be baptized?
Have you ever given out a Book of Mormon?  To whom?
Are all of your family members, members of the church?
Do you know any active or inactive members who have
non member friends or family members we could visit?

January Mission Council

Today was our January Mission Council.

What a wonderful, fabulous, outstanding

group of leaders we have serving here

in the Mexico Guadalajara Mission!

 Leadership Training

We discussed

*How opposition is a very real and valuable part of God's plan

(thank you Elder Teeples)

*How we must strengthen ourselves to become a 

mighty tool in the Lord's hands

*Thus far... how are we doing? (1Nephi 5:20)

Quotes to ponder-

*Rise up, Rise up to the great challenge that faces you

*The Lord needs our best.  

*He needs those who can run, not just walk

*We must rescue all that is finest in us

*Run the race that is set before us

We highlighted the mighty leaders 

Joshua and faithful Caleb from the Old Testament.

These were the two men, of all of those who left Egypt

that God allowed to enter the promised land.

It was Joshua and Caleb that had

remained true to the God that lead them with 

miracle after miracle manifested with his mighty arm.  

God fought their battles, and fed them with manna

for all those many years. And now, as they stood 

on the brink of entering the promised land,

along side the hosts of the faithless Israelites.

It was Caleb who calmed  their fears before

Moses saying yes the city was very great,

and there would be much to overcome, but let us

go up at once and possess it, for we are well able to

over come it.  Then this righteous leader, now 85 years

old said, Give me this mountain!  (Give me this challenge,

give me this opportunity)  Give me this mountain!

Today the assistants focused on 

Effective Teaching

Teaching people, not lessons.  

our practices were teaching the

 first vision, focusing on their investigators

responses and questions

  

President's object lesson was how vital it is to pay 

attention and take care as we teach people.  We often

 have to teach in a variety of ways, demonstrating several 

times, reviewing and then, allow them to tell or show us

they understand the concept.

President used teaching the figure 8 knot as 

an example
