Santiago Branch Conference 4-8-18

What a lovely day we have had this morning here in Santiago for our Santiago Branch Conference.  We were few in number even after Sacrament meeting, but as President Clayton taught the third hour, more members joined us.  Wonderful members, and the Lord’s sweet spirit accompanied us today.

President Clayton with Santiago Branch President, President Macias

Elder Carapia and Elder Alvarez
are serving faithfully here in the
Santiago Ixcuintla branch
at this time.

President Clayton teaching the third hour.
I took quite a few pictures today as a memory of
the teaching he does in every branch conference
throughout the mission during the third hour.
Although his topics have varied throughout
our time here... these third hour teachings
have been precious opportunities for
him to really teach the gospel to the members
in these small branches.

One of President Clayton’s greatest strengths
is his ability to warm hearts with love as he teaches.

The spirit of the Lord was with him today
as he began by asking the members to define
the Gospel... what is the Gospel?
And why do we have the Gospel here on earth?

PMG tells us that the objective of the Gospel of Jesus Christ
is to purify us from sin, so we can receive mercy from the Savior
on the day of judgement.

In the Guide to the scriptures we learn that the Gospel is:
“God’s plan of salvation, made possible through the Atonement
of Jesus Christ. The gospel includes the eternal truths, laws,
covenants, and ordinances needed for mankind to enter back
into the presence of God.

Our need to repent, and receive the ordinances and covenants
available to us in the true Church of Jesus Christ... accompanied
by the critical importance to remain faithful to the covenants and
ordinances we make with God, is what enables us to receive
this mercy from Jesus Christ.... which will aid us in becoming pure,
so that we can return and live with our Heavenly Father again.

Well... not everyone was fully engaged in the lesson today.
This little sweetheart sat right in front of me and just couldn’t
stay with us... (so precious).

Afterwards...just a little snack for these two!
